UI / Visual Product Designer

About You
You craft experiences with engaging graphics and dynamic layouts. You can pitch. You know what it takes to present and sell a product in effective ways because you’ve done it many times. You have experience with conversion rate optimization. You are familiar with best practices for guiding users through purchasing decisions. You are creative, intuitive, and always learning. You have an interest in providing a healthy way for users to escape the stress of the day.
The Role
We’re looking for a Visual / UI Designer to join our amazing, global design team and help shape the way we introduce chess to the world. In this role, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams and help craft the core experiences that guide users from introduction through to becoming premium members. This will include index page and app store experiments, registration screens, various stages of onboarding, engagement tactics, upgrade nudges, and premium membership page experiments.
What You’ll do
• Partner closely with Product Managers, Marketers, Copywriters, Engineers and other stakeholders to translate translate goals and requirements effective UI designs
• Design landing pages, top level interfaces, registration flows, product marketing integrations, and sales pages
• Own your designs from initial concept through to implementation
• Present your design proposals and clearly articulate your decisions, backing them up with contextual rationale and user insights
• Help your design teammates and provide constructive feedback in design reviews
Preferred Skills
• Strong visual design skills mixed with a foundational knowledge of UX practices and principles
• 3+ years of professional design experience focused on consumer web and mobile applications
• An online portfolio of strong mobile and web design work, particularly work that is intended to influence purchasing decisions (landing pages, marketing sites, and membership flows)
• Experience in an agency environment with clients across various industries
• Ability to take ownership of initiatives and influence core marketing strategy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills that allow you to explain your design decisions
• Deep knowledge of Figma and experience working with established design systems
• Sense of ownership and responsibility
