The Opportunity
Unwanted FC is opening its first studio + retail space in Sydney.
We’re looking for skilled Upcycling Specialists to work 2–3 days per week, supporting both production and in-store customer experience.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is confident behind a sewing machine, comfortable working independently, and happy engaging with customers in a retail environment.
About Unwanted FC
Unwanted FC upcycles post-consumer sportswear into new, functional products — including tote bags, boot bags, hats and more.
Since 2018, we’ve worked with clubs, players and fans to extend the life of garments that would otherwise go to waste. Every piece we create is one-of-one.
Our new Sydney studio will act as both a production space and a customer drop-off + retail experience.
What you'll do
Produce upcycled products to a high standard (bags, accessories, etc.)
Work with sportswear materials and inner lining/interfacing
Assist customers dropping off garments and explain our process
Manage the shopfront during shifts (basic sales, questions, general upkeep)
Work independently on assigned production tasks
Maintain a clean, organised workspace and studio
What We’re Looking For
Strong sewing skills (industrial machine experience preferred)
Experience with garment construction, alterations, or textile work
An interest in upcycling, sustainability, or circular fashion
Comfortable working both independently and in a customer-facing environment
Reliable, detail-oriented, and takes pride in their work
Nice to Have (Not Essential)
Experience in retail or customer service
Ability to also work from home on production (own machine access)
Interest in sport (we mainly operate on soccer, rugby, AFL and cricket shirts)
Additional Info
Casual role to begin with (2–3 days per week to start)
All materials and machines provided in-studio
