Modern, well-equipped small animal, busy AAHA hospital in Downey, CA, seeks a dedicated, reliable, responsible assistant/technician who is committed to a career in veterinary medicine.

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality care to animals. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks that ensure the well-being of our patients and the smooth operation of our clinic.

Duties

Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures
Handle and restrain animals safely for examinations and treatments
Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
Prepare animals for surgery, including anesthesia monitoring
Perform laboratory tests and assist with diagnostic procedures
Provide excellent customer service at the front desk, including scheduling appointments and answering client inquiries
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas
Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and health maintenance
Assist in the management of inventory and supplies
Qualifications

Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is preferred
Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology
Familiarity with animal husbandry practices and pet care techniques
Experience with animal restraint techniques and handling various species
Ability to administer medications and perform basic medical procedures
Understanding of aseptic techniques and laboratory procedures is a plus
Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members
A passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing exceptional care
