Job description:
The Vice President, User Experience oversee the IT governance, vendor management, quality
control and assurance, strategy and project implementation, performance management,
budgeting, and IT administration. This position brings rigor to our project management
operations, implementation of customer centric service desks to better support users,
transitioning the organization into an IT service management organization. It will bring UX
experience, project management skills, leadership, and IT performance management skills
currently lacking in the organization.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Partner with business unit and the rest of the IT leadership team in defining,
prioritizing and achieving strategic objectives and defining short- and long- term
objectives for projects/platforms under management.
• Lead business relationship management, oversee development of customer business
case(s) to put before the governance board(s) and provide regular updates to the CIO.
• Oversee the development and management of project business cases.
• Monitor project plans, resource deployment and coordination efforts to validate
projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
• Act as a key communication channel between technology and business relationship
function for program management status and issues, opening up communication
channels, coordinating messages and setting business expectations
• Proactively promote development, performance measurement, and skill
development, of junior staff
• Monitor emerging and innovative technologies and work with business and IT
leadership to understand implications of the new trends and how they will impact the
technology services being requested/provided.
• Provide procurement management support activities for the suite of IT contractors
and technologies.
• Understand the value drivers and role of technology as a business enabler, along with
each business unit’s strategic plans.
• Identify opportunities for the organization to help achieve strategic objectives,
strengthening IT strategy.
• Provide project cost reporting against overall plan and budget.
• Establishes relationships, develops and delivers communications with key business
and/or executive stakeholders.
• Improve communication and coordination between the IT organization and business
teams. Manage executive communication and reporting.
• Drive vendor and contract management activities for the suite of contractors and
technologies.
• Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and
effective functioning of the IT department.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
• College degree in technology or business management field and 10 years of related
management experience
• Experience within multiple technologies, functions (e.g., project management,
communication, etc.) and industries
• Understanding of project management methodologies/tools and development of
technology lifecycles
• Strong project management and team management skills, PMP Certification a plus
• Knowledge of sourcing methodologies, operating models and working with
professional services firms
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong collaborative and persuasion skills to break down departmental barriers to find
solutions
• Innovative thinking to address key issues or opportunities
Preferred Skills:
• Master’s degree in information technology, communication or related field and 10
years of relevant work experience
• Proficiency in technology service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL, NIST, etc.)
• Prior experience as a Deputy Chief Information Officer or Director.
