NZ Police are offering an opportunity to join the Victim Services team as a Victim Notification Coordinator based in Wellington at Police National Headquarters.

The purpose of the Service, Victims and Resolutions Group is to enable and deliver Our Business through coordinated national services.

The Victims Services team contributes to Police strategies to reduce the impact of victimisation on victims through the administration of the rights accorded to them by the Victims' Rights Act 2002. Providing effective services to victims is central to delivering the policing services New Zealanders expect and deserve. You will be helping Police to ensure we are carrying out our statutory responsibilities to victims, with a focus on victims of specified offences (s2+ victims). Specifically, you we be working in Victim Notification Registration - the process set up by agencies (Police; Department of Corrections; Ministry of Health) to provide registered victims and their Whanau of specified offences information about the release, escape and death of an offender.

Responsibilities include: receiving and assessing victim notification applications, applying legislation from the Victim Rights Act to determine victims eligibility to receive notifications, triaging workload by urgency, monitoring defendants court outcomes as they move through the court proceedings and communicating with key stakeholders (internal and external). Communication - Having the skills to effectively communicate with victims (in writing), internal colleagues, district and national office staff, and external stakeholders.
Critical Thinking - Having the critical thinking and problem solving skills to make sound decisions, identify problems early and pursue effective solutions.
Attention to Detail - High attention to detail, good time management skills, have empathy and discretion as you will be dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
Committed to excellence - Striving to be the very best in all that we do, using Microsoft 365 suite, digital databases and process, and your knowledge of key New Zealand Statutes.

Applicants must be a NZ or Australian citizen, or a permanent NZ resident.
Successful applicant is required to undergo Drug and ******* testing, Police Vetting and Reference Checks.
On appointment, the successful candidate must reside within commutable distance to the Wellington office.

Utu a-tau | Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $63,526 and $65,385 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
