About the Virtual Clinical Care Centre (VCCC)

The NSW Ambulance Virtual Clinical Care Centre (VCCC) provides a comprehensive secondary triage and referral service that aims to connect Triple Zero (000) patients with the most appropriate healthcare provider to meet their needs. We aim to improve the patient journey through the health system and support NSW Ambulance Control Centres with the management of emergency resources, ensuring the availability of ambulances for the patients who need them most. This will in turn reduce demand on emergency departments and the general healthcare system.
Incidents received through 000 and identified as low acuity through primary triage are transferred to the VCCC. The incident will undergo secondary triage by a VCCC Triage Clinician who assesses the patient’s clinical presentation and connects the patient with the most appropriate care pathway. This may include direct referral to NSW Health and Primary Care health services, avoiding ambulance transport to the emergency department. Our solutions include telehealth, remote monitoring, and video conferencing.

ABOUT THE ROLE

NSW Ambulance are seeking experienced Registered Nurse Triage Clinicians to join the team. You will perform secondary triage after the initial 000 call has been completed, and where appropriate refer patients to established healthcare pathways, escalate care and/or notify return of the incident to the appropriate Control Centre for dispatch of NSW Ambulance resources.
The NSW Ambulance VCCC is currently based at the old Gladesville Hospital site, and is planned to transition to the state of the art NSWA State Operations Centre at Sydney Olympic Park when the build is completed in 2025. We operate on site 24 hours, 7 days per week.

Please refer to the Role Description and Position Conditions and General Info for further information
