Job Description
This role is a community focused position that provides water management services to the Kangaroo Island Community. As a Water Officer, you will be responsible for providing high quality technical advice, education and customer service in response to community enquiries relating to the management of water resources.
You will also deliver effective community engagement, provide advice and recommendations on Water Affecting Activity permit applications, and monitor compliance/non-compliance of Water Affecting Activity permit requirements.
In addition, you will establish effective working relationships with stakeholders, contribute and prepare timely, informed and expert advice and recommendations for the Kangaroo Island Landscape Board, and facilitate water resource management and monitoring programs/projects.
The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of natural resource management issues, particularly in relation to water resources and aquatic ecosystems, and mature communication and facilitation skills.
The successful candidate will maintain a thorough and up-to-date understanding of the issues and challenges relating to water management practices in rural communities and understand what motivates or constrains community uptake of control actions.
