The Team:
Morningstar’s Finance team is responsible for planning, forecasting, and analysing the company’s financial results. The team works collaboratively with our business groups to support them with timely and insightful information to make informed business decisions. Within the broader Finance function, the EMEA West finance team is responsible for controllership, regulatory reporting, and external reporting for all legal entities across the UK, South Africa, and Dubai.
The Role:
Morningstar seeks a Wealth Controller - EMEA West to join the London-based finance team. The Wealth Controller - EMEA West will support the financial integrity, reporting, and regulatory compliance of all Wealth legal entities in the UK, South Africa, and Dubai. This role includes ownership of the month-end close, regulatory reporting, and partnering with global and regional stakeholders to ensure high-quality delivery of core finance processes. The individual will work closely with our shared service centers in Mumbai and Romania, with a focus on strong financial governance, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency. The Wealth Controller will also represent the Finance function in board meetings and risk committees for the regulated Wealth business, providing critical insight into financial performance, risks, and controls.
Responsibilities:
Lead the month-end close and financial reporting process for Wealth EMEA West entities, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements aligned with US GAAP and local regulatory standards.
Coordinate the preparation and submission of statutory and regulatory filings (e.g., FCA, DIFC), in partnership with external advisors and internal stakeholders.
Take ownership of legal entity results and controls, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and effective governance.
Participate in board meetings and risk committees, representing the Finance function and providing input on financial risks, performance, and regulatory compliance.
Manage and coach a small team, supporting their growth and ensuring a strong performance culture.
Review balance sheet reconciliations, address aged items, and implement improvements to enhance financial control.
Collaborate with shared services teams to drive standardisation, automation, and process excellence across key finance functions such as P2P, QTC, and intercompany.
Ensure appropriate revenue and cost recognition, with an understanding of Wealth-specific contracts and commercial arrangements.
Contribute to the regional planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, supporting FP&A with accurate inputs and insightful analysis.
Participate in legal entity simplification, restructuring, and optimisation projects across the region.
Act as a business partner to the Wealth product and leadership teams, providing financial insights that drive informed decision-making.
