Position Summary:
The Yard Operations Foreman oversees the day-to-day operations of the yard and delivery team at a Victoria-based location, including supervising a team of approximately 20 staff, managing schedules, and ensuring the safe and efficient loading, unloading, and storage of materials.

Performance Objectives:
Direct and monitor daily work activities of yard and delivery staff; establish priorities, delegate tasks, and follow up to ensure timely and accurate completion of duties
Maintain weekly staff schedules, approve timecards and overtime, and conduct ongoing performance evaluations for yard and delivery personnel
Coordinate and deliver required training for yard personnel and drivers
Enforce compliance with company, safety, fire, and occupational health and safety regulations; represent operations on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
Maintain vehicle and equipment records, including inspections, maintenance logs, and required annual compliance documentation
Supervise cyclical and year-end inventory counts; maintain appropriate stock levels, report shortages, ensure inventory rotation, and manage damaged or obsolete stock
Ensure the yard is clean, organized, and operating efficiently; oversee site security and help minimize loss
Ensure safe and accurate loading and unloading of company vehicles; build strong cross-functional relationships to support productivity and service standards
Complete all required documentation accurately and on time
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Capabilities / Key Competencies:
Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to build positive team dynamics, resolve staff and customer concerns, provide coaching, and maintain morale
Strong commitment to safety, with a thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and the ability to promote a strong safety culture
Operational knowledge of materials handling, inventory processes, and yard or warehouse workflows; action-oriented self-starter with disciplined work habits and strong attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including strong interpersonal and active listening skills; professional, courteous, punctual, and customer-service focused
Education and Experience:
Experience in a distribution, operations, yard, warehouse, or building products environment – 3 years preferred
Experience in a supervisory role – 5 years required
Forklift certification and Class 5 driver’s licence
High school diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements:
Able to perform tasks requiring prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to carry out job duties
Ability to remain active on your feet, including climbing ladders and stairs and lifting up to 50 lbs while moving and rotating materials
Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
