Shift: Monday – Friday, Some weekends, and evenings
Compensation: $32.69 hourly

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Community Engagement Manager, the Youth Engagement Coordinator ensures that our youth focused programs reflect our core organizational mission, vision, and values: Nourish, Empower, and Serve. The Youth Engagement Coordinator will coordinate RVFB’s youth and school feeding programs and steward partnerships with schools as well as youth-centered community organizations. This position requires experience and a deep commitment working with young people from diverse economic and racial backgrounds including immigrant/refugees, communities of color, and LGBTQ+ populations.
The candidate must always exhibit strong time management skills, work well with others, present a positive image to volunteers and the public, and have strong communication skills. This position is responsible for accurate documentation and reporting of outcomes for all youth programs. The ideal candidate is a great team player who can also work independently.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinate daily operations, of RVFB’s school feeding programs for K-12 schools including Weekend Hunger Backpack program.
• Coordinate youth internship program with the aim to develop youth leadership and job readiness for post high school success
• Strengthen partnerships with community organizations that reflect the identities, cultures, and needs of local youth through referrals, shared programming, and collaborative initiatives.
• Serve as an active, visible participant in the community, representing RVFB at school events, classrooms, resource fairs, and neighborhood gatherings.
• Lead tours and field trips that introduce youth to RVFB’s programs and food access systems, and engage youth groups in service activities such as drives, packing parties, and volunteer shifts.
• Gather input from school staff, students, and families through surveys, conversations, and relationship building to ensure programming reflects community needs and priorities.
• Engage in civic engagement and food justice advocacy events and collaborations as it pertains to the youth programs at RVFB.
• Create and regularly update process guides for all youth programming.
• Prepare accurate and timely reports that track program outcomes and key metrics.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• At least three years of experience working in youth‑centered programs, serving in roles such as mentor, facilitator, or program staff, with a demonstrated ability to support and engage young people.
• A deep commitment working with young people from diverse economic and racial backgrounds including immigrant/refugees, communities of color, and LGBTQ+ populations.
• Demonstrated ability to create a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and joyful environment where youth feel seen, valued, and supported.
• Ability to design and facilitate engaging youth programming, including leadership development, food justice learning, and hands-on service opportunities.
• Strong relationship building and communication skills to build trusting relationships with youth, families, schools, and community partners, collaborate effectively with colleagues, and represent the organization confidently in school and community settings.
• Willingness to engage in civic engagement and food justice advocacy as it relates to youth programming.
• Experience working independently and as part of a team, with a collaborative, flexible, and solutions-oriented approach
• Ability to meet all safety standards including food and personal safety as it pertains to all youth programs.
• Strong knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office and data entry
PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Bilingual or multilingual abilities—Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Somali, Oromo, or other languages commonly spoken by recent immigrants in Seattle preferred.
REQUIRED QUALIFICIATIONS:
• Valid driver’s license
• Will be required to pass WA State background check
• Available to work evenings and Saturdays between 1-3 times per month (on average)
• Ability to lift up-to 30 pounds by hand or cart
• Ability to stand for up to 60 minutes during workday
