Job Description Summary:
What you need to know about the role The Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation and analysis of general ledger account reconciliations for multiple Core PayPal products in best-in-class FBO (For the Benefit of Others) function and has responsibility for monthly accounting activities including account reconciliations, research, analysis, account balance checks, journal entry preparation, review, and posting, and other monthly close. The senior accountant will also be involved in providing audit assistance, recommending and implementation of process improvements, integration of newly acquired businesses related tasks, special projects, and management of processes. Meet our team Global Accounting Operations (Customer Accounting) directly impacts financial reconciliations. We reconcile Balance Sheet GL accounts related to Customer Activity including Customer Liability, Funds Payable, Funds Receivable and Cash. You will have the opportunity to work with multiple global teams ensuring our customer activity and our company aims are maximized with the highest standards of integrity.

You will participate in a full scope of reconciliation, issue escalation, root cause analysis, back office user acceptance testing and pilot testing on new financial product launches.

Your day to day
• Ensuring compliance with internal, operating, and financial controls
• Leveraging a solid understanding of accounting rules to provide timely, accurate, and standardized account reconciliations
• Reviewing the monthly reconciliation to the general ledger and provide support for variance resolution
• Works independently to research, track and timely resolve outstanding reconciling items and related issues. Ability to apply advanced research techniques to accurately identify the source of the reconciling items. Communicates with internal resources and/or processors to escalate and resolve these differences.
• Preparing, reviewing, and recording journal entries in accordance with PayPal operating controls and policy
• Liaises across various finance functions to effectively communicate inquiries and policies
• Responding to audit inquiries (SOX and external auditors)
• Providing guidance and support to offshore accounting team
• Supporting new business initiatives that impact accounting processes including participation in projects: testing and training.
• Works with a high degree of initiative to identify and recommend process improvement opportunities in the areas of reconciliation, journal entry preparation, and analysis.

What Do You Need To Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting and finance experiences; proficient in US GAAP application
• “Big 4” public accounting experiences preferred
• Financial systems knowledge and experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate accounting concepts between cross-functional teams within the organization
• Ability to manage a diverse workload, while ensuring accuracy and timeliness with attention to detail and a commitment to continuous process improvement
• Proven ability to operate successfully in a highly complex and changing environment with competing objectives and priorities
