Description
Job Summary:
Accountant is responsible for supporting the business and financial strategy of the hospital. This includes being directly responsible for performing data entry, maintaining ledgers, credit and debit balances, and account irregularities. The Accountant will also ensure the timely and accurate processing of documents and transactions related to A/P and A/R management including general accounting matters.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Prepares and distributes bi-weekly productivity reports; educates Directors on productivity inquiries as needed
Prepares and distributes monthly departmental income statements; educates Directors on income statement inquiries
Assists Controller in:
posting journal entries
reconciling balance sheet accounts
reconciling bank accounts
preparing Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow statement, 13 Week Income Statement Trend reports, Projected 12-month Income Statements, and volume charts and graphs
Assists CFO in:
updating statistical reports, financial statements, monthly Financial MOR package
calculating and booking contractual and bad debt reserves on AR
preparing annual audit workpapers, cost report workpapers, DSH/Uncompensated Care Application Process, annual operating budget, annual capital budget
providing financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
Serves as A/P Specialist back-up.
Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
Performs other related duties to benefit the mission of the organization as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
Intermediate computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint, payroll systems, accounting systems, and email.
Excellent command of / highly proficient in spoken and written English.
Education and Experience:
Certification or formal education in Accounting required; or 2 years of accounting-related experience in lieu of education
GAAP knowledge preferred
Full cycle GL experience preferred
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization’s physical premises.
Sufficient hearing, vision, and dexterity to perform duties safely.
Stress Level: Low to Moderate
OSHA Classification:
Category III: Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.
The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere might encounter potential exposure to body fluids).
