Major Responsibilities
Financial Management
l Monitor and reconcile sales transactions from various e-commerce platforms, ensuring accuracy and completeness of revenue recognition.
l Analyze and reconcile bank statements and payment gateway transactions to ensure proper recording of income and expenses.
l Manage and process accounts payable and accounts receivable for e-commerce transactions, including supplier payments and customer refunds.
l Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and payment confirmations.
E-commerce Accounting
l Develop and implement accounting procedures specific to e-commerce operations, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
l Perform regular reconciliations between e-commerce platforms, payment gateways, and accounting systems to identify discrepancies and resolve them in a timely manner.
l Monitor and reconcile inventory-related financial transactions, including purchase orders, cost of goods sold, and inventory valuation.
l Ensure proper allocation of revenues and expenses related to marketing campaigns, discounts, and promotional activities.
Financial Reporting
l Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports for e-commerce operations, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
l Analyze financial data and provide insights on e-commerce performance, revenue trends, and profitability.
l Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts for the e-commerce business, incorporating sales projections, marketing expenses, and operational costs.
Tax Compliance
l Collaborate with the tax department to ensure compliance with tax regulations specific to e-commerce, including sales tax, VAT, and GST.
l Assist in the preparation of periodic tax filings and returns, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
l Stay updated with changes in tax regulations related to e-commerce and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
Process Improvement
l Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes and controls related to e-commerce accounting and operations.
l Identify opportunities for automation and optimization of financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
l Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT and operations, to streamline data flow and integrate systems for seamless financial management.
Qualifications
l Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
l Proven experience as an Accountant, preferably with experience in e-commerce or retail finance.
l Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations.
l Proficiency in using accounting software and e-commerce platforms. Experience with platforms like Amazon, Shopify is a plus.
l Advanced Excel skills for data analysis, reconciliation, and financial modeling.
