US Solar is seeking an Accountant who will be responsible for the full accounting cycle of standalone operating solar projects and tax equity funds. Working closely with the Company’s bookkeepers, accountants and finance team, the Accountant will reconcile budget to actual financial performance, assist in tracking tax equity returns and preparing reporting packages. Additional responsibilities will be assigned as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage all accounting related functions for assigned portfolios/projects
• Cost coding and review for accuracy of vendor and subcontractor invoices
• Preparation of journal entries, analysis and adjustment of income statement and balance sheet accounts, monthly balance sheet reconciliations and general accounting support for assigned projects
• Manage external bookkeeping activities; including review of bank reconciliations, accrual adjustments, and preparation of monthly financial statement packages
• Meet month end and quarterly reporting deadlines
• Prepare periodic comparative variance analysis
• Coordinate the external audit process for project operating funds
• Process monthly customer billings, analyze receivables, and assist with cash forecasting
• Oversee cash collection cycle working closely with the Sunscription team to manage AR
• Counterparty servicing management, including required reporting to utilities and third party customers
• Assist with calculation, and track compliance with, debt covenants
• Support other team members as requested
Key Qualifications & Desired Characteristics:
• Bachelor's Degree and 2-3 years of relevant experience
• Detail oriented, with strong organizational skills
• Working knowledge of US GAAP, general accounting knowledge & experience
• Project management skills with ability to prioritize tasks
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, team player
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience in renewable energy, solar development a plus
• CPA
This position will require the ability to work full-time, in-person, at least four days a week in US Solar’s Arlington, VA office during the orientation and training period. A hybrid work schedule is possible in the future.
