About The Role
Seaport Entertainment is looking for an Accountant based in our New York office for our rapidly growing company. Reporting to the VP, Corporate Controller and as a key member of the accounting team, they will perform various accounting functions for the company, with a focus on our Corporate Segment.
General Accounting
What You Will Do
• Support with day-to-day accounting operations.
• Analyze G&A expense accounts and prepare accrual journal entries as appropriate.
• Record and reconcile all payroll and benefits entries weekly.
• Manage end to end month end reconciliation and review process (Balance Sheets, P&L reviews, additional workpapers)
Bank And Cash Management
• Ensure proper reconciliation of various bank accounts and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
• Post daily cash journal entries and ensure accuracy.
• Fixed Assets and Prepayments:
• Identify, record, and ensure the timely capitalization of fixed assets.
• Track prepayments and post amortization entries as needed.
• Collaboration and Process Improvement:
• Raise accounting issues and coordinate with the accounting team to drive consistency across processes and controls.
• Assist with SOX preparation and testing.
Audit And Reporting
• Prepare quarter end 10Q/K supporting schedules and collaborate with various teams to consolidate data into footnote disclosures.
• Assist with audit requests by preparing necessary documentation and analysis.
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Handle other ad-hoc assignments as needed.
About You
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 3+ years of experience in an accounting or financial role preferred
• Knowledge of accounting procedures and principles with experience in supporting Accounting close processes.
• Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Dynamics or other equivalent ERP system.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Highly organized with attention to detail
• Thrives in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
Compensation range: 75k – 100K plus bonus and benefits
