Account I - Accounts Payable
Salary: $42,118 - $51,896

As an Accountant I, you play an important role in helping us fulfill this mission by performing a variety of routine accounting functions such as calculating account balances, balancing accounts and reviewing trial balances.

Key Responsibilities
Process CapitalOne lockbox and deposits daily via remote.
Interface with employees and customers via phone or walk in to assist with resolving tenant accounting discrepancies.
Assist with move-out deposit accounting as needed.
Review and prepare electricity charges for occupied unit tenants.
Follow-up with operational and department managers on purchase order and invoice approvals.
Carefully manage AP files and documentation to ensure complete and precise records.
Handles a range of administrative tasks including filing documents, data entry, scanning, answering phones, and processing mail.
Coordinates work with the Accountant Supervisor and Finance Manager in the preparation of financial analyses and annual reports.
Supports the relationship between DHA and the constituent population by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients, visitors, and DHA staff.
Enthusiastically promotes the President/CEO's priorities for the operations of DHA.
Knowledge and Skills for Success
A successful Accountant has…
Knowledge of DHA organization, operations, policies and procedures.
Understanding of and skill in applying Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
Knowledge of and skill in applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Principles related to public sector financial administration.
Understanding of the principles of record keeping and records management.
Knowledge of software applications with emphasis on MS Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.
Skill in analysis and application of accounting principles and standards.
Skill in multi-tasking and establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with DHA staff.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of people.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration
Two (2) years of accounting experience
OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
