Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Management Accountant to join our team!
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will play a key role in supporting the accounting activities of the DefendTex Group. You will contribute to the delivery of accurate and timely financial and management reporting for both internal and external stakeholders, while helping to maintain the integrity of accounting records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
As a newly created role, this is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of much of the Group’s operational accounting and make a real impact. The position offers strong scope for professional growth and hands-on learning, with ongoing support and mentorship from the CFO as the role evolves.
Your key duties will include;
Managing month-end and year-end close procedures
Working with the production team to manage and improve stock costing, and production costing workflows
Assisting in the preparation of quarterly Business Activity Statements
Ensuring accurate tracking of job costing for manufacturing
Assisting with budgeting and forecasting
Assisting with general ledger account and project code management
Processing project cost allocations and cross billing between companies
Developing and improving automated reporting templates using DefendTex’s ERP system.
Managing the Fixed Asset register
Proactively identifying and supporting cost management and efficiency initiatives.
About you:
Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field
Proven work experience as a Management Accountant or similar role
In-depth understanding of business bookkeeping procedures
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Process and deadline-driven mindset with a keen eye for detail
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Great work ethic and can-do attitude.
Time management skills and the ability to work autonomously.
Ability to maintain positive and productive working relationships and be a team player.
Eligibility to meet Baseline security clearance requirements.
Not be a prohibited person under Section 3 of the Firearms Act 1996 (Victoria).
