About This Role
Wells Fargo is seeking a Commercial Banking Portfolio Manager in Middle Market Banking as part of the credit management team. This key position is responsible for credit portfolio management to meet the long-term financial objectives and risk tolerance for commercial banking clients and serves as a key member of a client's deal team. In This Role, You Will
• Participate in performing financial research, underwriting, and structuring complex credits within Commercial Banking Portfolio Management functional area
• Review and research business financial statements and tax returns that require an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors
• Resolve moderately complex issues and lead Commercial Banking Portfolio Management team, to meet project deliverables, while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
• Collaborate and consult with Commercial Banking Portfolio Management peers, colleagues, and mid level managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
• Lead projects and teams or serve as a mentor for less experienced individuals
• Research complex credit investigations and diverse credit information for loans
• Identify opportunity for process improvements within scope of responsibilities or functional area
• Review and identify basic operational assignments that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternatives while exercising independent judgement to guide medium risk deliverables
• Present recommendations for resolving complex situations and exercise independent judgement while developing expertise in the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
• Collaborate and consult with functional colleagues, internal partners, and stakeholders including internal as well as external customers
Required Qualifications:
• 2+ years of Commercial Banking Portfolio Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
• Previous experience underwriting C&I (commercial and industrial), and IRE (investor real estate) complex credit
• Experience completing commercial annual loan renewals and reviews
• Experience negotiating interest rates, price, terms, and collateral requirements
• Knowledge and understanding of commercial and specialty group banking products and services
• Solid knowledge and understanding of credit policy, loan servicing, risk management, and group underwriting requirements
• Previous experience using Blast or Creditview
• Demonstrated experience showing attention to detail, self-motivation and the ability to independently problem solve

Pay Range

Overview:
Assist/participate in the documentation and/or analysis of financial/accounting or tax information and the preparation of financial, tax and/or regulatory reports, adherence to internal controls while ensuring the quality of data being reported.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Provides product level accounting guidance to partners across the Bank, including accounting research in tandem with the Accounting Policy team.
• Responsible for some month end accounting entries relating to more complex products at the Bank.
• Provides cross training/support to new team members.
• Assist with problem resolution and data interpretation, perform variance analysis, and ensure timely submission of reports.Analyze results and provide input for management recommendations.
• Prepare financial schedules, reconciliations and reports for the Corporation, which could include bank regulatory reports, SEC reporting, reports to shareholders and the Board of Directors, as well as internal management reports. Knowledge of various tax regulations as applicable.
• Selects alternatives from defined options in a variety of work routines by applying basic finance or accounting concepts.
• Other functions include data integrity testing, general ledger entries, adherence to generally accepted accounting principles, SEC disclosure requirements, and bank regulatory requirements.
• Display foundational understanding of M&T's (or applicable Business Unit within) financial statements; including awareness of key drivers/trends in major Balance Sheet and Income Statement line items.
• Participate in training and development opportunities across Finance.
• Be aware and adhere to department timelines and deliverables.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
