A nationally ranked construction firm located in Chicago, IL is looking for an entry level Accounting Coordinator to join their team. The Accounting Coordinator is a pivotal role that provides essential support to the finance team. This position involves a combination of administrative and accounting tasks, requiring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities. The ideal candidate will contribute to the smooth functioning of the finance department by assisting with various accounting processes and administrative functions. The compensation for this role is $50-55K.
Key Responsibilities of the Accounting Coordinator:
Accounts Payable and Receivable Support:
• Assist in processing invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
• Aid in the preparation and dispatch of client invoices.
• Help reconcile vendor statements and address any discrepancies.
Expense Management:
• Administer employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Support the tracking and reconciliation of company credit card transactions.
General Ledger:
• Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries and reconciling accounts.
• Conduct regular reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
General Administrative Tasks:
• Manage and organize financial documents, both physical and electronic.
• Assist in maintaining an organized filing system for accounting records.
Communication and Coordination:
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate with other departments to gather necessary financial information.
• Work closely with project managers, procurement, and other departments to gather and validate financial information.
• Communicate effectively with vendors, clients, and internal stakeholders.
Financial Reporting Assistance:
• Generate standard financial reports as directed by the Finance Manager.
• Support in preparing documentation for audits and financial reviews.
Qualifications of the Accounting Coordinator:
• Bachelor's degree is preferred
• Proven experience in administrative roles, preferably in a finance or construction environment.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficient in computer software (e.g., Concur, CMiC, Box, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
