Accounting Manager

About This Role:
This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the International Accounting function. The individual should have the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while being able to manage a team of one staff accountant as a future hire. An ideal person for this role is someone that adheres to strict month end close deadlines and has great attention to detail. The candidate should also have the ability to implement new control procedures and process improvements throughout the department. We are looking for someone who can develop accountants into future CPAs. This position requires the ability to work on assignments that are highly complex in nature where independent action, judgment and a high degree of initiative are required. Requires a strong combination of analytical, decision making and interpersonal skills.
What You’ll Do:
• Close international entity books in a 4-day close window
• Demonstrate the ability to create process improvements with new innovative techniques and procedures
• Approve and batch all foreign AP invoices
• Ensure an environment of control that minimize the need for large month end adjustments
• Act as a liaison between the Accounting and Finance departments with a seamless transition from month end close to month end review
• Communicate with foreign local accounting firms to furnish documents and financial statements • Assist in evaluating impact of new accounting pronouncements
• Research technical accounting issues and present findings to appropriate levels of the Company Finance Team
• Exposure to Transfer Pricing
• Assist with the coordination of quarterly reviews and annual audit with external auditors
• Complete and lead new projects introduced to the accounting department making sure a smooth transition from design to testing to implementation
• Assist with maintenance of the Procedure Manuals including accounting policies, guidelines, and Internal control documents
• Aid with research about accounting and tax policies of foreign countries
• Assist with writing of technical accounting memos
• Set an example of excellence for the accountants on the team and be able to nurture their development into future CPAs and leaders of the organization
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
• Highly motivated self-starter
• Prior experience with managing accountants
• Adaptability within a high-growth fast paced environment
• Public accounting experience
• Understanding of US GAAP
• Ability to write technical accounting memo’s
• Capacity to meet deadlines from the Accounting and Finance teams
• Effectively communicate with multiple teams and foreign contacts
• CPA
• Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university (3.0 GPA or higher on 4.0 scale)
• 5-10 years of accounting experience and some experience managing other Accountants
• Proficient in the use of information technology including ERP systems Microsoft Office products
• Ability to adapt to frequent environmental changes
• Critical thinking and ability to offer suggestions and implement process improvements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
• Exposure to GL accounting with entities outside of the United States
