Our client a leading real estate development company specializing in residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties is seeking a dedicated and experienced Accounting Manager to join their team and oversee the accounting functions for a diverse portfolio of real estate assets.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:
• Oversee all accounting functions related to real estate assets, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and company policies.
• Manage the full cycle accounting process, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and fixed assets.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Develop and manage property-level budgets and forecasts.
• Analyze variances between actual and budgeted figures, providing detailed explanations and recommendations to senior management.
• Collaborate with property managers and other departments to ensure alignment on financial goals and performance metrics.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate and support external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Team Management:
• Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, including training, performance evaluations, and professional development.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Reporting and Analysis:
• Prepare detailed financial reports and analyses for senior management, investors, and stakeholders.
• Conduct financial modeling and analysis to support investment decisions and strategic initiatives.
Property Accounting:
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of all property-related transactions, including lease accounting, property tax, and depreciation.
• Manage the accounting for property acquisitions, dispositions, and development projects.
• Oversee rent roll and tenant billing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• System Management:
• Optimize and maintain accounting software and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Lead initiatives to enhance reporting capabilities and streamline accounting processes.
Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA designation preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within the real estate industry.
• Strong knowledge of real estate accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
• Experience with property management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar) is highly desirable.
Skills:
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
