ABOUT THIS POSITION
The City of Phoenix Aviation Department owns and operates Sky Harbor, Deer Valley, and Goodyear airports. Sky Harbor, America's friendliest airport, is one of the busiest airports in the country in the nation's 5th largest city.
The Aviation Department has a vacancy for an Accounts Receivable (AR) Accountant II in the Financial Management Division. The position will primarily be responsible for leading the revenue and billing processes for our Aviation customers providing commercial and cargo air services, concessions, ground transportation, and other services and rental leases at the airports. The AR accountant II will also support collection efforts on delinquent accounts, reconcile customer and bank accounts, coordinate and audit financial records, and train professional employees.
The AR Accountant II has the ability to engage customers (internal and external) through proactive and positive oral and written communication, perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities, analyze and interpret financial and accounting records, prioritize and manage workloads to meet deadlines and goals, and work independently with minimal oversight and instruction.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Plans, assigns, coordinates, and supervises the work of Accountants I, including assigning billing advice requests, reviewing customer refund requests, and leading general daily and monthly billing duties.
Prepare detailed customer and bank account reconciliations.
Prepare customer account delinquent fee analysis and assist in collection efforts.
Enter and process sales-based revenue receipts in compliance with contractual agreements and leases.
Calculate rent adjustments and modify rental rates in SAP timely.
Assist with credit card compliance, accounting standards, and customer service training.
The successful candidate for this position will have at least three years of professional experience in revenue recognition accounting, customer service, and a bachelor's degree in accounting or business.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Proficiency with band and/or account reconciliation.
Proficiency with ERP financial systems, such as SAP.
Proficiency with compliance, financials, GAAP, contracts, and PCI.
Familiarity with accounting transactions rules, regulations, and internal controls.
SALARY
Pay Range: $58,593.60 to $100,235.20 annually.
Hiring Range: $58,593.60 to $90,916.80 annually.

Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
Internal Only: Please understand that this is pay grade 056. If selected, your salary offer will be based on the applicable promotion or demotion worksheet in accordance with the City Pay Ordinance.
Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Three years of professional level experience in accounting.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
Government or Aviation accounting or financial experience.
Administrative work experience relating to account management.
Experience with/in:
Creating financial reports.
Lease and contract accounting.
Accounts receivables and reconciliation processes
Developing and implementing processes and procedures.
Processing customer payments and/or revenue receipts (A/R).
Instructing employees on technical accounting transactions rules, regulations, and internal controls.
Researching, analyzing and problem-solving skills independently following contractual agreements and regulations.
Supervising staff such as hiring and firing; handling disciplinary issues; coaching; and conducting performance evaluations.
