Job Description
Maintain client accounting records, including data entry and coding of transactions
Prepare bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
Maintain general ledgers and assist with adjusting journals and trial balances
Maintain fixed asset registers
Assist in the preparation of financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, sole traders and rental property clients (primarily in Xero and MYOB)
Prepare and file GST, PAYE and income tax returns and follow up with clients for required information
Liaise with Inland Revenue (IRD) regarding client accounts, payment arrangements and general queries
Assist with business advisory tasks such as business registrations, basic tax planning, budgets and cashflow projections
Respond to client queries by email and phone in a professional, timely manner
Remuneration
Hourly Rate: NZD $28.00 – $36.00 per hour (depending on skills and experience)
KiwiSaver (if eligible)
4 weeks of Annual Leave
Hours of Work
Minimum guaranteed hours: 30 hours per week
Hours will be worked during standard business hours on Monday to Friday
Work Location: On-site at our Auckland office
The role is primarily office-based, with some flexibility for remote work by agreement.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following minimum criteria:
Qualifications & Study
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field.
Work Experience
Minimum 1-2 year of NZ based experience in an accounting or taxation role is preferred.
Proficient in acocunting applications/software skills.
Technical Skills
Good understanding of accounting principles.
Some experience with Xero and/or MYOB or NZ accounting applications.
Confident in using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
Comfortable working with online IRD services and tax forms.
