The type of transactions we currently work on range from multifamily apartment complexes to large office towers in the United States and European markets and range in value sizes from $10 million USD $200 million+ USD.
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller / Controller to manage and oversee accounting operations across multiple entities. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance across multifamily, family office, and investment entities. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on NetSuite experience, deep technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to work closely with external auditors and senior leadership in a multi-entity environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Accounting Operations Oversight: Manage end-to-end accounting operations, including month-end and year-end close processes across multiple entities.
• Financial Statement Review: Prepare, review, and ensure accuracy of financial statements for holding companies and property-level entities.
• Multi-Entity Accounting: Ensure accurate accounting and reporting for multifamily, family office, and investment structures.
• Audit Coordination: Lead and manage coordination with external auditors, including audits for government-funded properties and entities.
• NetSuite Management: Maintain, review, and optimize accounting processes and workflows within NetSuite.
• Compliance & GAAP Reporting: Ensure adherence to GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal accounting policies.
• Review & Controls: Review reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules to maintain data integrity.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
• Strategic Support: Collaborate with senior leadership to provide financial insights, analysis, and recommendations.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements, automation initiatives, and internal control enhancements.
• Technology Enablement: Leverage AI tools or accounting technologies, where applicable, to improve reporting, efficiency, and analytics.
Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven experience at Assistant Controller or Controller level.
• Strong hands-on NetSuite experience (35 years minimum) is mandatory.
• Experience working with multifamily, family office, and/or investment accounting.
• Solid understanding of complex financial statements and multi-entity structures.
• Experience managing and supporting external audits.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
You must have:
• Comfort working in EST/PST (US time zones).
• Minimum 35 years of relevant experience in a senior accounting or controllership role.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (verbal and written).
