Bank Staff Support Worker - Ofsted Registered Childrens Home
Job details
Job description, work day and responsibilities
Continuum Support is a family-owned company established in 2013, built on a foundation of care, empathy, and commitment to supporting young people. Over the years, we’ve grown into a trusted provider of high-quality care and support for children and young people across the Northwest.
As a family-run organisation, we place great value on creating a close-knit, supportive environment for both the young people in our care and our staff. Our ethos is to provide nurturing, person-centred support that empowers young people to achieve their full potential, and we extend the same values of care and development to our employees.
Our Residential Children’s Homes in Warrington, St Helens and Widnes offer safe, structured, and nurturing environments for children aged 6-18. With continued growth, we’re looking for passionate individuals to join our team and contribute to our mission of making a real difference in young lives.
Role Overview
As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting young people to thrive in a safe, stable, and enriching environment. You will provide tailored emotional, physical, and practical support to help them develop essential life skills, build confidence, and achieve their goals.
This is a hands-on role where every day brings new challenges and opportunities. You’ll be part of a collaborative team, working together to provide the consistent care and encouragement young people need to succeed.
For experienced professionals, this role provides an opportunity to bring your expertise and make an immediate impact. For those with transferable or life experience, we offer comprehensive training and development to support your success in this fulfilling career.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting children and young people with daily routines, education, and life skills.
Building positive relationships to support their emotional and social development.
Maintaining a safe and nurturing environment where children and young people can thrive.
Collaborating with colleagues, families, and professionals to meet individual care plans.
Monitoring and documenting progress to ensure high standards of care.
Promoting well-being and independence through encouragement and guidance.
Responding effectively to challenging behaviour, using de-escalation techniques and ensuring a calm, supportive approach.
Representing children and young people’s needs and views in meetings and reviews to ensure their voices are heard.
What We’re Looking For
At Continuum Support, we value life experience just as much as professional qualifications. We believe that personal journeys and transferable skills can provide a strong foundation for making a meaningful impact.
We’re looking for individuals who:
Bring life experience that demonstrates resilience, empathy, and the ability to support others through challenges – such as parenting, caregiving, or navigating personal adversities.
Show a genuine passion for helping young people achieve their full potential.
Are empathetic, patient, and resilient, with excellent listening and communication skills.
Have transferable skills from either their personal lives or from roles such as teaching, customer service, healthcare, or community work.
Are adaptable and proactive, with the ability to work effectively in a team or independently.
Demonstrate the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
Possess strong problem-solving skills and a solution-focused mindset.
Are flexible to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and overnight sleep-ins.
Are committed to professional development, including completing a Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People, if not already held.
Show an understanding of safeguarding principles or a willingness to learn and apply them.
If you have prior experience in residential childcare, youth work, or similar fields, we value your expertise and encourage you to apply. For those with transferable or life experience, we provide full training and support to help you succeed in this role.
