Job Summary
The position requires diverse ability related to budget, financial and employee data. Employee must have a demonstrated knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials and Budget Prep Processing. Employee must be self-motivated and work with limited supervision. This position has training in accounting principles and procedures and performs professional level accounting work. This position works under the general direction of the Chief Budget Officer/Budget Director.
Responsibilities
Significant Duties & Responsibilities include: Assists with the development of the University's annual operating budget (5%).; Assists with quarterly and yearly reporting to the system office (5%).; Processes, maintains, and analyzes budgets/budget amendments weekly, monthly, and quarterly (15%).; Provides direction/understanding to budget managers on financial reports and understanding their budgets and budgetary requirements (5%).; Assists in reconciling budgeted and actual revenues and expenditures (5%).; Analyzes monthly department budgeting and accounting reports to maintain expenditure controls (10%).; Analyze financial related documents/requests for accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures (3%).; Assists department in resolving funding problems regarding funding sources, budget categories, account balances/insufficient funds, etc (10%).; Prepare monthly reporting detailing expenditures funded with elective fee dollars and distribute to applicable areas for review and compliance (2%).; Verify, review and approve all supplemental pay, graduate assistant, and personnel action request forms (10%).; Assist with yearly elective fee submissions to USG Board of Regents (5%).; Assist with yearly mandatory fee submissions to USG Board of Regents and 5-year business plans for mandatory fees and auxiliary services (10%).; Review HR report weekly for changes that affect the budget (Increases, promotions, etc.) (5%).; Process position funding changes in position budget management and department budget table in OneUSG connect (5%).; Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned (5%).
Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications include: The selected candidate should have a completed bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline with three to five years of progressively responsible relevant accounting experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Proposed Salary
The proposed annualized salary range for this position is $51,503 - $56,441 and includes full benefits.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities include: Considerable knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures in the recording, classifying, and examination of accounting transactions.; Considerable knowledge of Board of Regents policies and procedures to ensure elective fees (i.e. lab and course) are in compliance.; Ability to analyze financial data, recognize errors, and implements corrections.; Demonstrated ability to work with complex accounting systems.; Ability to maintain effective working relationships and communicate effectively.; Skill in preparing detailed reports on a timely basis.; Considerable knowledge of accounting principles and practices as well as statistical and analytical procedures.

Conditions of Employment

Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive a Columbus State University fleet vehicle or other vehicle designated as a fleet vehicle. A successful drug screening will be required as a condition of employment a randomly thereafter.
