Qualifications
High School Diploma / GED - Required
At least five (5) years experience in installing, repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of refrigeration systems
At least five (5) years experience on ice machines, walk-in-boxes, water coolers, refrigerators, freezers, and low temperature freezers
Demonstrate a working knowledge and ability to operate all: ice machines, walk-in-boxes, water coolers, refrigerators, freezers, and low temperature freezers
Excellent problem solving skills and ability to act independently
Licenses and Certifications
EPA Class 4 Certification - Vocational School granting EPA Certification - upon hire - Required
Responsibilities
The Building Systems Refrigeration II Technician is an advanced position responsible for the operation, installation, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and documentation of refrigeration systems at CHOP
Duties and skills include advanced expertise in the installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration systems and documentation of these activities
Independently troubleshoot commercial, residential, and industrial refrigeration systems including refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, walk-in-boxes, and other related refrigeration equipment
Complete in a timely and complete manner all preventative maintenance assigned to you
Preventive maintenance tasks are to be recorded using hospital electronic maintenance management systems (ARCHIBUS)
Submit work orders for all necessary follow-up work identified during preventative maintenance
Maintain equipment and related facilities in accordance with preventative maintenance standards and manufacturer’s standards
Provide prompt and courteous response to all service calls
Confirm repair, adjustment, or need for follow-up with service requestor before leaving area
Fully document service repairs/adjustments performed through accurate and complete descriptions on work orders in hospital electronic systems
Communicate all pertinent equipment and operation information to the Refrigeration Supervisor and/or Manager
Routinely monitor using electronic systems and accurately document refrigeration equipment status
Take immediate action to correct variances and/or report to Building Systems Refrigeration Supervisor or Building Systems Refrigeration Manager when appropriate
Provide detailed communication both written and verbal to supervisor and co-workers about equipment and system abnormalities and changes
Record your time daily in ARCHIBUS to accurately reflect your activities
ARCHIBUS recorded time must match your time recorded in the timekeeping system (KRONOS)
Prepare and submit CHOP Hot work permits and impairment requests
Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Hospital and Department Emergency Response Procedures
Maintain a clean, safe environment throughout the facility and follow safety guidelines as directed by CHOP Environmental Health and Safety
Other duties to support the department mission as directed
Install, troubleshoot and correct malfunctioning refrigeration systems
Ability to read and use equipment operation and maintenance manuals, wiring schematics, ladder diagrams, and other technical documentation as necessary to perform the duties of this role
Demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and verbally to customers and co-workers
Operate hand and power tools

Education Qualifications

• Technical Diploma in a Trade field of study - Preferred
Experience Qualifications
• At least five (5) years experience in installing, repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of refrigeration systems. Required
