Job Summary: A Chartered Accountant (CA) in the industry plays a vital role in managing the financial health of the organization. They are responsible for overseeing accounting functions, financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial decision-making. CAs in industry work closely with various departments to ensure financial efficiency, regulatory compliance, and the proper management of company assets. Key Responsibilities: 1. Financial Reporting and Accounting: Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP). Monitor the day-to-day financial operations, including invoicing, payments, and reconciliation of accounts. Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries and perform month-end and year-end closing procedures. 2. Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage the company’s annual budgeting process, including setting targets for revenue, expenses, and profit. Conduct financial forecasting to project future financial performance and assist management in strategic decision-making. Track financial performance against budgets and provide regular variance analysis reports to senior management. 3. Taxation and Compliance: Oversee tax planning, tax returns, and ensure adherence to all applicable tax laws and regulations. Handle GST, corporate tax, and other direct and indirect taxes in compliance with the relevant tax authorities. Assist with the preparation of tax audits and ensure all tax-related filings are submitted accurately and on time. 4. Internal Controls and Audit: Develop, implement, and maintain internal financial controls and processes to prevent fraud and ensure accuracy in financial reporting. Lead or coordinate internal audits and implement corrective actions based on audit findings. Work closely with external auditors during annual audits, ensuring that all requested documentation and reports are provided promptly. 5. Financial Analysis and Decision Support: Perform financial analysis to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for improvement. Provide management with accurate and timely financial data to support business decision-making, cost-benefit analyses, and profitability improvement strategies. Assist in business performance analysis and contribute to identifying key performance indicators (KPIs). 6. Treasury and Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for day-to-day operations. Oversee the organization’s financial investments, debt management, and banking relationships. Manage working capital and optimize cash management to support operational needs and business growth. 7. Financial Strategy and Advisory: Provide strategic advice to senior management on financial planning, risk management, and business expansion. Support strategic business initiatives such as mergers, acquisitions, or investments from a financial and due diligence perspective. Assess and advise on potential risks and opportunities related to financial strategies. 8. Team Management and Development: Lead and supervise a team of finance professionals (e.g., accountants, finance analysts), ensuring their growth and development. Provide guidance and training to junior staff members, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and organizational processes. Foster a collaborative and productive environment within the finance team. Skills and Qualifications: Education: Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification from a recognized body (e.g., ICAI, ACCA, ICAEW). A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Experience: 5 years of relevant experience in an accounting or finance role within an industry setting. Experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, taxation, and compliance is essential. Exposure to financial systems, ERP software (e.g. Oracle, Tally), and advanced Excel skills. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards. Knowledge of tax laws, GST, and corporate compliance matters. Proficient in accounting software and financial analysis tools. Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments. Preferred Attributes: Experience working in a specific industry (e.g., manufacturing, FMCG, retail, etc.) can be a plus. Knowledge of financial modeling and performance metrics. Previous experience in a managessrial or senior role.
