Role
Roles and Responsibilities - Specific to the position of the MARC Van
The successful applicant will be required to
¿ Plan and deliver a sequential and developmental curriculum in consultation with school staff.
¿ Establish constructive relationships with students to create a positive working atmosphere where students are set clear, challenging and achievable goals.
¿ Support all students to learn and develop to their full potential.
¿ Be adaptive and flexible in the delivery of the literacy curriculum in individual schools.
¿ Contribute to assessment and reporting procedures in individual schools.
¿ Work within the parameters of individual schools student Code of Conduct.
¿ Ensure that the classroom environment is safe and conducive to acceptable behaviour and learning.
¿ Perform stocktake audits on a regular basis.
¿ Be responsible for maintaining documentation of travel and servicing of the vehicle.
¿ Demonstrate a commitment to educational initiatives embraced by the cluster.
¿ Take responsibility for their professional development, share good practice with colleagues and support them where appropriate.
¿ Be an active participant in cluster based professional development. ¿ You will need a current Full Victorian Drivers Licence to drive the MARC van.


Responsibilities
The role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:

Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students;
Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school;
Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal;
Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions;
Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

VIT LANTITE
To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class a person must have provisional or full registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching. In addition, from 3 August 2020, to be eligible for employment in the principal class or teacher class, a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1 July 2016, must demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements. This condition is satisfied where the LANTITE requirement is part of the Victorian Initial Teacher Education program completed by the person.

Location Profile


The MARC Tyrrell Cluster consists of four schools

Nyah PS: 50 students,
Tempy PS: 20 students,
Tyrrell College (Sea Lake): 50 students,
Manangatang P-12: 32 students.
MARC lessons are centred on developing literacy, library and research skills. The lessons provide approved time release for individual schools teaching staff. Most of the schools have multi-age classes from Foundation to Year 6.


The MARC Van is based at Tyrrell College in Sea Lake, a small Mallee town on the Calder Highway. Located 400 kilometres north-west of Melbourne, the community is mainly farm-based, and the area is well known for its rich grain farming.

The MARC van visits each school weekly and covers approximately 1600 km per month delivering lessons to students. The Marc Van teacher is based at and is a member of staff at Tyrrell College. Set in the heart of the northern Victorian farming belt, Tyrrell College is a thriving Foundation-12 school with 128 students drawn from several close-knit rural communities in the area.
