Full job description
This role is based in Auckland.
Who we are:
Te Taurapa Tūhono | New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) purpose is simple – to grow companies internationally, bigger, better and faster, for the good of New Zealand.

Our Brand & Content team is NZTE's internal agency for world-class brand, advertising, design and content that helps exporters grow internationally.

What you’ll be doing:
As our Content Lead, you’ll propose a global content strategy and lead the team that plans, designs, develops and manages content across NZTE’s digital platforms. In a fast-evolving digital world, this role will require you to anticipate trends and ensures our content remains relevant, impactful, and innovative, even as technology and audience expectations shift.

You’ll partner with stakeholders across our global team, setting the standard for quality in all content that’s produced, collaborating to unlock new ways of creating, delivering, and measuring the success of our content. By thinking strategically about how content is consumed and interacted with, you’ll guide NZTE in adapting to emerging channels and technologies, ensuring we’re always a step ahead. Your proactive approach will set the standard for how we pivot and grow, leading the way in a landscape where ‘where we are today’ is not where we’ll be in two years’ time!

People leadership will be at the core of your approach. Beyond inspiring the team and setting a benchmark for quality, you’ll foster an environment that values mentoring and coaching. You’ll be proactively helping your team to develop the skills and confidence to excel in a changing environment. In this role, you’ll champion a culture that genuinely supports, develops, and cares for its people, building an inclusive and resilient team ready for whatever the future holds.
What you’ll need to be successful:
You'll be an experienced multi-disciplinary content professional with a proven ability to deliver compelling content that inspires, prepares, and informs. You will need to speak data fluently, drawing actionable insights from content analytics and confidently making data-driven decisions to steer our content strategy forward. Your vision will not only inform and inspire our customers but also empower your team and the wider NZTE community to embrace change, harness new opportunities, and drive the next era of digital storytelling.

This is a global role requiring strong influencing skills; you must be comfortable collaborating across time zones, shaping perspectives and building consensus in a diverse, international team. A background in content is essential, but you don't necessarily have to be a writer. If you have experience organising content, understanding the mechanics of email and social media marketing, and see how content operates synergistically across multiple channels, you’ll be well-placed to succeed.

You’ll be a dynamic leader and motivator, someone with a positive approach who energises those around them. You’re receptive to feedback, able to drive change, and anticipate shifts in the digital landscape, championing continuous improvement. Your future-focused mindset will ensure we stay ahead of the curve, especially as AI advancements shape the future of content; you’ll help us leverage these for greater impact.

Engagement with key stakeholders is key, including international teams and those focused on funding and financing growth for our customers. The content team is a true centre of excellence and sets the benchmark for quality across our international network, driving standards and inspiring others to reach new heights.
Why you’ll love working here:
NZTE offers flexible work arrangements of 3 days in the office, a dynamic environment, and the chance to build valuable business networks with a talented, diverse team. Our collaborative approach supports delivering greater value to customers, this is your opportunity to make an impact.
