Your Role at Batesville:

As a Content Writer, you will be responsible for developing effective messaging and communication strategies including press releases, media pitches, podcasts and other communications to support our public relations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, collaborates cross-functionally and uses AI to support SEO guidance, article and industry research and content brief writing.

What You’ll Do:

Content Creation: Write and develop compelling content including press releases, articles, op-eds, media pitches, articles, ebooks, white papers, customer stories, website copy, company bios, presentations, speeches, talking points, video scripts and other communications.
Research: Compose new content based on research. Organize facts related to the assigned topic or what’s relevant to the deathcare industry and consumers. Leverage AI for content briefs and article research and writing.
Proofread: Edit and proofread content for mistakes to ensure copy meets editorial guidelines and brand standards.
Optimize for SEO: Ensure all content is optimized for SEO and contains sufficient keyword placement, title tags, meta descriptions, etc. Leverage SEO tool to support.
PR: Execute the PR strategy to build brand visibility with consumers and reputation within the industry to ensure it is comprehensive with our overall marketing strategy and brand goals as well as aligns with the business objectives and brand positioning.
Crisis Communication Execution: Develop and execute crisis communications and preemptive communications.
Media Relations: Execute high impact media coverage in industry-specific publications as well as consumer focused publications.
Thought Leadership: Develop thought leadership articles and pieces for Batesville’s innovation strategies and stay ahead of industry trends and emerging opportunities.
Collaborate & Brainstorm: Collaborate and brainstorm with designers, digital marketing team, creative team, product managers and key stakeholder teams for new ideas, strategies and execution.

What You’ll Bring:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or Marketing; and a minimum of 5 years related public relations or communications experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent English skills and writing capabilities in various styles, formats and tones
Strong project management skills and an ability to prioritize projects, based on client needs, and to keep multiple projects progressing in a quick, high-quality fashion
Highly adaptable to change and ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
Effective communication skills to partner with internal stakeholders as well as to manage relationships with third-party marketing agencies.
Proven record of accomplishment of developing and executing successful marketing campaigns.
Excellent communication, collaboration and storytelling skills to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
Adherence to brand guidelines
In-depth knowledge and understanding of writing for SEO
