Where you'll be working

Coral Tree Family Service, North Ryde

What you'll be doing
Coral Tree Family Service is a tertiary referral service providing intensive, family-centred mental health treatment for children with significant emotional and behavioural challenges. As the only service of its kind in Australia, Coral Tree builds on this legacy, offering a unique therapeutic model that treats the family as the unit of care. Families from across NSW participate in structured four-night residential stays, where they receive tailored, multidisciplinary support that combines therapeutic, social, and educational interventions.

The children referred to Coral Tree often struggle with persistent difficulties such as aggression, anxiety, or relational challenges, which have not responded to community-based support. These difficulties can create considerable strain on family relationships, disrupt daily functioning, and impede the child’s developmental progress. Coral Tree works to address these issues within a supportive and structured therapeutic environment.

Family Workers are essential to the success of Coral Tree’s program, delivering hands-on, real-time therapeutic interventions that are central to the service’s unique approach. This full-time role includes weekly shift work on either Monday and Tuesday evenings or Wednesday and Thursday evenings, ensuring consistent support for families throughout their stay.

As a Family Worker, you will play a pivotal role in transforming the lives of children and families by helping them build the skills and confidence needed to navigate complex emotional and behavioural challenges.

We are seeking compassionate, practical individuals who are committed to helping families thrive. The successful candidate will be ready to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and have the flexibility and energy required for shift work in a dynamic and rewarding environment.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

Recognised qualifications as a Psychologist, Registered Nurse, or Occupational Therapist with current registration through the relevant Professional Board of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, or eligibility for Membership for Social Workers with the AASW.
Post qualification experience that demonstrates the ability to provide a range of mental health interventions to children with severe emotional and behavioural problems..
