About the opportunity

Fixed term full time position up to June 2025
Focus on creek, water sensitive urban design assets (WSUD) and riparian projects
Assist in the implementation of Council's Biodiversity Strategy and Environmental Stormwater Management Program The position of Creeks Project Officer will ensure on-ground stormwater projects, such as sediment and rubbish removal in waterways, is undertaken effectively and efficiently.
This position will be responsible for the management of creek line restoration and rehabilitation projects, riparian restoration and Environmental Stormwater Management Program projects, the supervision of on-ground environmental worksite activities and contractors, the compilation, management and administration of contracts relating to environmental management, and the provision of expert advice and assistance to Council and the community in relation to bush land and wetland activities.

Qualifications and experience


Essential:

Tertiary qualifications in a related field such as Bush Regeneration, Conservation and Land Management, Horticultural Science, Natural Resource Management or Environmental Science
Demonstrated experience supervising contractors and managing contracts
Experience managing budgets and projects
Ability to interpret regulation and policy.
Current class C driver's licence.
Desirable:

12 months experience in a similar work environment
Demonstrated experience working with wetland and WSUD maintenance projects
Demonstrated experience in administering and reporting on environmental grants.
Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

Entry level for this position starts at $1.560.32 per week
35-hour working week
