See your product come to life, experimenting and expanding your creative channels. I am looking for a Design Manager to join this well established fashion brand. Looking for a passionate, agile and creative design manager based in Manchester
Job Summary:
The primary function of this role is to manage and support the design team to deliver collections for boohoo across short and medium term time frames on both local and export supply base.
Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
• Set an inspiring vision for the future and effectively translate and communicate this to the teams.
• Take responsibility for driving the design critical path in line with buying and marketing.
• Demonstrate an in-depth, customer focused knowledge of the market and trends.
• Provide strong and consistent product direction and handwriting.
• Provide a balanced range for the brand customer across all supply base on both short and long lead time frames.
• Take responsibility for driving best practices.
• Work to departmental deadlines to produce seasonal and in season trend packs for distribution throughout the business.
• Work with the Design team to identify relevant trends early including; focused key items for the season, volume lines, colour palettes and print direction.
• Flexibility to travel both locally and off shore.
• To build strong working relationships with Department Heads providing design support and influencing as appropriate Bridging the gap between the Designers and Heads Of Departments.
• Develop direct reports to ensure they are continually progressing.
Managing the Team:
• Understands, communicates, and manages employees to achieve the goals of the organisation.
• Utilises leaderships skills and motivation techniques to maximise employee performance and satisfaction.
• Monitors the team’s overall service and team work daily and identifies and implements strategies to increase service delivery/productivity.
• Establishes and delivers effective communication strategies within the department.
• Leads by example in all work related activities, acting as a role model for employees.
• Proactively delivers job related training for all department members.
• Works with the Head of HR to identify wider training needs and to create a departmental training plan.
• Encourages, develops and manages effective employee relations across all areas of the business.
• Identifies candidates for succession planning & promotion and brings these to the attention of the Head of HR and Director(s).

About You:
Nobody’s Child is looking for an experienced Designer to join our thriving Casuals Department, on our growing area of Denim working alongside a team of exceptional and passionate womenswear designers. Reporting into the Design Manager, you’ll bring a fresh eye, driver newness, and elevate our responsible product, aligning with our strategic direction.
Day to day, you'll be:
• Working closely with the Design Manager to own and execute range development end to end from briefs given. As well as working collaboratively with all in house departments, such as print, buying, and merchandising.
• Supporting range development by proactively driving research and presenting new ideas. Showing in depth trend knowledge, clearly identifying department key items, key colours, new fabrics, and details in line with the NC customer.
• Keeping sustainability at the forefront of all development, constantly researching and evolving the brand to be market leaders.
• Sourcing the newest sustainable fabrics and trims to elevate the range.
• Lead and participate in regular team meetings to present the range to heads of and the CEO.
• Create technical design specifications for new garment developments and work alongside suppliers to ensure fit and quality is prioritised.
• Actively participate in fittings, in collaboration with the buying and tech teams.
• Establish and build relationships with suppliers and fabric mills.
• Be able to work and manage critical paths and demonstrate organisation and drive to ensure correct samples are delivered on time.
• Support with wholesale packs alongside the Design Manager and helping to mend on a regular basis as needed.
• From time to time where needing to assist the tea with any other department needs on other categories other than your own in key seasonal pressure times.
• Actively contribute to our company’s commitment to environmental and social responsibility by integrating sustainable practices into everyday work. This includes minimising waste, promoting responsible sourcing, supporting our circular economy initiatives, and encouraging customers and colleagues to make choices that align with our sustainability values. Every team member at NC plays a role in helping us reduce our environmental impact and create a positive legacy for our communities and the planet.
About you:
• Around 6 years of experience in a casual facing role for a fast paced womesnwear retailer.
• Ability to multi-task in an ever changing, thriving growth environment
• Creative eye and passion for responsible product.
