NZRC offers a total remuneration approach of $200,000 for this role, which comprises of base salary as well as employer contribution to KiwiSaver. While remuneration rates are set to reflect that we are a humanitarian not for profit organisation, we believe our employee leave provision and flexible working arrangements, provide a highly rewarding work experience.
At the New Zealand Red Cross (NZRC), we’re not just transforming systems—we’re transforming how we serve communities. As a member of the world’s largest humanitarian network, we’re driven by purpose, powered by people, and ready for bold change. That’s where you come in. We’re looking for a seasoned, sleeves-rolled-up IT Program & Transformation Manager to lead the charge on our multi-year transformation journey. This isn’t a role for someone who prefers to manage from the sidelines. We need a leader who thrives in complexity, rolls with ambiguity, and knows how to turn strategy into action—fast. We’re looking for someone with a steady pair of hands, experienced in looking after complex, multi-year programmes, but who is also willing and able to dive in and help out in order to get things done.
About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga
This is your chance to take the Digital Transformation Programme (DTP) from vision to reality. You’ll be the engine behind our transformation—building delivery capability, driving change, and ensuring that our technology empowers our people and amplifies our impact.
You’ll be hands-on, visible, and deeply embedded in the mahi. One day you’ll be troubleshooting with the team, the next you’ll be briefing senior leadership. You’ll need to be agile, adaptable, and always ready to pivot to where you’re needed most.
What You’ll Be Doing
Architecting and executing a robust program delivery framework for the DTP.
Managing the full pipeline of work—resources, vendors, risks, budgets, and timelines.
Coaching and mentoring project managers to lift delivery capability across the board.
Navigating procurement and funding processes to ensure every dollar delivers value.
Building strong, trust-based relationships across the organisation and with external partners.
Championing a collaborative, high-performing ICT culture.
Who are we looking for? – Mā wai te mahi nei?
What You’ll Bring
A proven track record in leading complex IT transformation programs—ideally in dynamic or resource-constrained environments.
Deep knowledge of digital transformation strategies, delivery methodologies, and change management.
A pragmatic, people-first leadership style—able to inspire, influence, and bring others on the journey.
The ability to flex between strategic thinking and tactical doing—often in the same hour.
A calm, can-do attitude and a willingness to muck in wherever needed.
Experience in the non-profit or for-purpose sector is a bonus—but not essential.
