Summary
The Director of Admissions provides strategic leadership for the undergraduate and graduate admissions functions at St. Thomas University. This role is responsible for supervising the admissions team, managing counselor outreach and recruitment strategies, evaluating prospective students, and overseeing all stages of the admissions process.
The Director works in close collaboration with the Vice President for Enrollment to achieve enrollment goals. The role also must collaborate with the Director of Enrollment Operations to optimize the division’s communications, CRM (Slate by Technolutions), and admissions events to ensure seamless coordination and data-informed decision-making.
Essential Functions
Lead recruitment efforts for both undergraduate and graduate programs.
Coordinate on- and off-campus events to attract prospective students and families.
Build, supervise, and support a high-performing team of admissions professionals, fostering a collaborative and accountable environment.
Oversee application review, documentation, and admissions decisions, sometimes in partnership with deans, program directors, and campus colleagues.
Offer input for the day-to-day use and overall development of the division’s CRM (Slate by Technolutions) for lead management, communications, and reporting.
Monitor and ensure progress toward enrollment targets set by the Vice President for Enrollment Management.
Collaborate with Student Success, Financial Aid, Student Life, and the Business Office to support seamless onboarding of new students.
Manage the admissions office budget, recruitment travel, and related operations.
Serve as a point of contact for prospective students and their families, providing guidance and addressing questions throughout the admissions process.
Occasionally represent St. Thomas University at high schools, community colleges, college fairs, and other relevant venues.
Competencies
Proven leadership in higher education admissions or enrollment management
Strong analytical and strategic planning skills
Proficiency with CRM systems, particularly Slate by Technolutions
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Experience mentoring, coaching, and motivating a team of professionals
Student-focused mindset and commitment to inclusive excellence
Ability to interpret and leverage data to inform decision-making
Knowledge of higher education trends and enrollment best practices
Work Environment/Physical Demands
The candidate is required to be mobile and occasionally lift and/or move to 25 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Occasionally expected to work off-hour events.
Occasional Weekends
Travel
Periodic travel is required throughout the tri-county area to support recruitment efforts, events, and to accompany or support admissions personnel.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum five years of experience in college admissions, enrollment management, or a related field
