Peer Support Worker

We are looking for experienced and new peer support workers to join our expanding team with a new startup service across Counties Manukau (Peer Support Hub).
Rotating shifts with evening and weekend work required as well.
Full-time and part-time positions available.
$25.00ph - $30.00ph (depending on qualification held and its equivalence to the Certificate in Health and Wellbeing L4)

Ember Korowai Takitini are leaders in The Peer & Lived Experience mental health and addiction sector, dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

Peer Support is an important part of recovery. We provide a number of services that connect people seeking help with teams who have their own personal experiences of mental health trauma and recovery.

Our new services will be based within the Counties Manukau region and the Waitemata region (North Shore).

Role | Nga mahi

We believe that Peer Support Workers play a vital role in achieving positive outcomes for our clients. Our kaimahi draw on their own lived experiences with mental health and/or addiction challenges, alongside the skills and knowledge they've gained working in community mental health settings. This unique combination enables them to empower whai ora to navigate and overcome the obstacles they encounter.

As a Peer Support Worker, you will build relationships with all whai ora registered with the service and work collaboratively to find personalised solutions that enable them to live and participate in their community. You will build on whaiora strengths to develop natural support networks for participation and to support them to integrate independently into the community. Critical to this role is the ability to communicate effectively and take a person-centred approach as you work alongside clinical teams and other community agencies to ensure we provide a wrap-around service for those we support.

You will Have | Nga Pukenga

Either a New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or be willing to study towards this.
Your own personal lived experience with mental health and/or addictions (AOD) challenges and successful recovery (essential)
A Valid/current work visa, residency, or citizenship (essential)
A Full NZ Driver's License (essential)
Experience working in the area of mental health and/or addictions (alcohol and other drugs)
The ability to work in a team environment and from a bicultural perspective
Have a passion for walking along side those in need, supporting on-going goals on the pathway to recovery
