Job description, work day and responsibilities
Requirement:
We are looking for an experienced, well-networked and resourceful Director to join our excellent team. The Director's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, setting the vision, goals and academic standards for the school, building a team, developing academic programs, budget and resource management, in addition to individual academic responsibilities of teaching, supervising graduate students, publishing, serving on committees, and handling administrative duties.
A successful Director should be able to balance teaching, research and staff responsibilities. In addition, they should be able to carry out independent research, manage resources efficiently, provide discipline specific advice and guidance for faculty and delegate administrative responsibilities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and overall direction to lead the school and take the University forward; work collaboratively with the leadership team, faculty and staff and effectively engage the education community.
• Design high quality academic programs that are in demand and meet the standards of professional and accreditation bodies, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
• Formulate a long-term strategy and a robust implementation plan to stimulate overall academic excellence and growth of the School.
• Ensure that all programmes are regularly revised and externally reviewed.
• Direct curriculum development to embed research-based learning and teaching, co-curricular experiences to incorporate the best learning practices
• Contribution to educational innovation, design of New Curricula and Courses, and Technology – Mediated Teaching Learning Process
• Promote development and implementation of effective classroom management strategies, remediation strategies for students, instructional planning, and classroom organization
• Create a platform for faculty to ensure their knowledge is current in pedagogy, educational technology, assessment, and evaluation.
• Represent on various University committees from the School's perspective, prepare progress reports for senior leadership and internal/external audit team.
• Prepare and efficiently manage human and financial resources
• Provide thought-leadership in the Education sphere, and where possible inform or influence policy
• Undertake any related responsibility assigned by the Vice Chancellor, or others in the Senior Leadership
Key Skills:
• A teaching practitioner with hands-on experience of T&L theories, tools and techniques
• Knowledge of national and international certification in Education, the New Education Policy and an understanding of theoretical and practical of professional Education training in India
• Knowledge of alternate approaches to Education, challenges of teacher training in India, best practices in educational technology, instructional approaches and assessment techniques
• Exposure to international best practices, knowledge of accreditation and ranking requirements concerning the School of Education.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills for effective collaboration and ability to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Office IT Productivity tools
Education and Experience
• Postgraduate Degree in Sciences or Mathematics or Humanities & Social Sciences
• M. Ed
• Ph. D in Education
• 10 years of teaching experience in a Teacher Education Institution
• An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 research publications in the Peer Reviewed / UGC listed journals
• Any other relevant qualification preferred by the UGC for these categories of posts.
Desirable
• Diploma or Degree in Educational Administration or Leadership
