Job Description
Informa’s HR Legal Department is seeking a talented employment attorney with experience handling a range of labor and employment related matters to join our dynamic team. As a member of the HR Legal team, you will provide strategic advice and legal counsel on a wide range of employment law issues across the Americas as well as partner with other employment attorneys and cross-functional groups across the globe.
What You’ll Do
Provide practical legal and risk management advice on a broad range of employment issues, including recruiting, compensation, performance management, separations, internal investigations, leaves of absence, discrimination, harassment, diversity and inclusion, wage and hour compliance, restrictive covenants, reasonable accommodations, employee benefits, employee classification, and other employment related topics
Draft and review employment-related documents, including offer letters, employment agreements, compensation agreements, settlement agreements, non-competition agreements, job offers, employment equity award agreements, and severance agreements
Assist and participate in investigations related to employment practices, policy violations and employee relations issues
Manage and respond to agency charges and attorney demand letters
Work with HR on the development and interpretation of workplace policies and programs, including training
Stay current on relevant labor and employment law legal updates, including case law and legislation, and disseminate information to relevant team members quickly and effectively
Identify and assess legal risks and opportunities within the labor and employment areas and advise accordingly
Supervise, manage, and evaluate outside counsel on employment related matters including litigation
Conduct employment-related due diligence in connection with mergers, acquisitions and other business transactions
Manage and carry out special projects, providing research, reporting, advice, and other related tasks as required
Qualifications
J.D. and 3-5 years of substantive employment law experience (with at least 2 years at a leading law firm)
Prior business or in-house experience a plus
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Outstanding written and verbal communication and analytical skills with demonstrated strategic thinking, creativity, and excellent risk analysis skills and judgment
Practical, busines solution-oriented approach to providing advice to all levels of internal clients on all employment law related matters
Ability to analyze complex situations and develop business-oriented, simple, concise, and effective legal solutions
Ability to work in fast -paced environment and effectively juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills; self-starter with good business sense
Excellent risk analysis skills and judgment and outstanding verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
Flexibility and willingness to approach legal challenges with an entrepreneurial mentality and a desire to learn and grow

This role is based 3 days per week in our New York office.
The salary range for this role is $160,000- $200,000 based on experience.
