To help save our customers green, we need an amazing team who knows all about it. Our National Finance & Administration Services department oversees the management of the critical resources and infrastructure that our people need to get the job done at every level. This service department is designed to make sure our retail divisions and executive leadership receive the support they need to run a successful operation. Within Finance our teams include: Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Reporting, Tax and Treasury.

The External Reporting Senior Accountant role is an exciting opportunity to work directly with cross-functional teams, international teams and leadership. This role will be responsible for collaborating with team members on IFRS research, consolidations, month-end close processes, and projects as required. ALDI is looking for a team member that can help mentor, identify efficiencies/process improvements, and drive strategic change. The ideal candidate will have strong background in either audit or industry, and experience in financial reporting under US GAAP or IFRS.

Position Type: Full-Time
Starting Salary: $105,000
Salary Increases: Year 2 - $112,500 | Year 3 - $120,000
Work Location: Batavia, IL
This role is eligible to participate in ALDI’s Hybrid Work Program, which allows remote work up to 3 days per week (i.e., work remotely up to 3 days per week; work in-office at least 2 days per week).


Duties and Responsibilities:
Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Communicates and informs leadership of issues, status and results of assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
Provides input to their direct leader concerning personnel hiring.
Assists management with recommendations on month end closes processes, preparing reconciliations and other external reporting projects.
Advises on any changes or actions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
Informs management of recurring issues or when additional team training may be required.
Analyzes consolidation procedures with the objective to identify best practices.
Assists leadership in implementation and rollouts of large-scale projects and performs other special projects as required.
Analyzes and evaluates monthly consolidations of financial results to ensure timely and accurate financial results are reported.
Ensures reporting compliance under applicable accounting standards (i.e. IFRS).
Research technical accounting guidance and prepare memos to management, including unusual/complex transactions.
Maintains a thorough understanding of external reporting processes.
Work cross functionally with local and international teams to ensure reporting accuracy and compliance.
Assists in training and developing team members to retain a motivated and professional workforce.
Collaborates with team members and communicates relevant information to leadership.
Upholds the security and confidentiality of documents and data within area of responsibility.

Ability to identify and use IT solutions and research technical issues to increase project efficiencies and write appropriate memoranda.
Ability to effectively manage priorities under strict deadlines.
Strong technical accounting and research skills.
Initiative and creativity in finding efficiencies.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required.
A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Accounting or Finance required.
Or, a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
CPA preferred.
ERP system knowledge preferred.
Prior audit experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Work may be performed in an office, remote office or a combination of both where a computer and office equipment may be used as needed to perform duties.
Regularly required to sit, reach, grasp, stand and move from one area to another.
Constantly and repeatedly use keyboard/mouse.
Occasionally required to push, pull, bend, lift and move up to 25 lbs.
Travel:
Domestic travel required.
Up to 10%.
