Job Description
The Financial Accountant I, under direction, performs entry-level professional accounting tasks at a University level within the Division of Finance and Administration.
Applicants must be authorized to work for any US employer. The department is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
Responsibilities:
Perform accounting work to include recording examining, and analyzing financial records, documents, or reports. Classifies, codes, posts, and balances financial and accounting documents and records.
Reconcile banks and clearing accounts by auditing accounting and financial documents for accuracy and completeness. Monitors accounts, identifies financial discrepancies and inform management.
Serves as a resource in solving accounting or financial problems. Assists in making recommendations for improvements, adaptations, or revisions to the accounting system, policies, and procedures.
Assists in gathering information for financial reports for the state and the A&M System, including the Annual Financial Report (AFR).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Oral and written communication skills.
Customer service skills.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years of accounting experience.
Salary: $45,000.00
Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Supervision of Others: This position does not supervise employees.
Work Location: This is not a remote position. The selected candidate will be required to work on campus.
