Financial Analyst

Status: (1) Regular Full-Time position

Salary Range: $78,336 to $+7,+20 per annum plus comprehensive benefits

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton

Hours of work: 35 hours per week


The Finance Division within Corporate Services plays a critical role in driving organizational success. We empower strategic decision-making and operational excellence through strong financial stewardship and proactive business partnership.
What You’ll Do in This Role
As a valued member of the Finance team, you’ll work closely with Senior Financial Analysts and cross-functional teams to support a wide range of financial activities that help shape the organization’s financial health and long-term success. Key responsibilities include:
Partner with Senior Financial Analysts to advise program teams on both operating and capital financial matters.
Review and analyze expenditures, complete monthly accounting processes (e.g., accruals, account reconciliations, journal entries) to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Manage the booking and reconciliation of provincial funding and related expenditures.
Assist in the preparation and execution of operating and capital budgets, as well as year-end financial processes.
Perform daily reconciliations for program-specific bank accounts and support balance sheet reconciliation.
Contribute to both internal financial reporting and required ministry submissions.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data accuracy and streamline financial processes.
Monitor departmental spending, providing timely financial insights and recommendations to ensure fiscal accountability.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for project-related transactions, and support internal and external audit processes.
Lead or contribute to special financial reporting and analytical projects.
Take on additional finance-related duties as needed.
What the role requires:

Finance/Accounting degree
CPA/CGA/CMA/ACCA accounting designation preferred
3 years experience in a financial environment
Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
Skills/Abilities:

Sound business acumen and critical mindset
Strong computer skills (specifically MS Office-Excel, Word and PeopleSoft Financials)
Strong verbal and written communication skills, planning and organizational skills
Great customer relationship skills
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
Nice to have:

Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations and standards as well as municipal issues, services and processes considered

In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.


It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
