About the Position

Reporting to CEO and CFO, the Financing Manager is a pivotal role that bridges the gap between financial management and external stakeholder engagement. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive accounting experience in the construction and real estate industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong social skills to effectively manage relationships with external stakeholders, financial institutions, and key external stakeholders while ensuring the financial integrity of the company’s projects and operations.

Key Responsibilities

Capital Management:

- Develop and implement strategies to optimize the company’s capital structure and manage debt and equity effectively.

- Oversee the sourcing and securing of funding for projects, including construction loans, land loans, lines of credit, and investments.

- Ensure that the company maintains adequate liquidity to meet its financial obligations and support ongoing projects.

Financial Management:

- Oversee the day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting.

- Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models for construction and real estate projects, ensuring alignment with the company’s financial goals.

- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, tax laws, and internal financial policies.

Stakeholder Engagement:

- Act as the primary liaison between the company and external stakeholders, including investors, banks, lenders, and key clients.

- Present financial reports, project updates, and investment opportunities to stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and ensuring transparency.

- Negotiate terms with financial institutions and investors to secure project funding and manage financial resources effectively.

Project Accounting:

- Handle project-specific accounting, including cost tracking, revenue recognition, and financial forecasting for construction and real estate projects.

- Monitor project budgets, identify potential cost overruns, and provide solutions to keep projects on track financially.

- Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate financial reporting and budget adherence.

Risk Management:

- Identify and assess financial risks related to construction projects, including market fluctuations, interest rate changes, and cost overruns.

- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the company’s financial health.

- Provide regular updates to management on financial risks and recommend corrective actions as needed.

Compliance and Reporting:

- Ensure that all financial operations comply with industry regulations, tax laws, and company policies.

- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including management, investors, and auditors.

- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Process Improvement:

- Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.

- Implement best practices in financial management and stakeholder engagement to support the company’s growth and success.

Qualifications

- A university degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in financial management, with a strong focus on accounting within the construction or real estate industry.

- CPA designation would be an asset.

- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and project accounting specific to construction and real estate.

- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing financial strategies that align with organizational goals and support business growth.

- Proven ability to manage relationships with external stakeholders, including investors, financial institutions, lenders, and key clients, with strong negotiation and communication skills.

- Proven experience in sourcing and managing construction loans and land loans.

- High proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and MS Office.

- Ability to work in-person 5 days a week.
