The opportunity:
The role will be responsible for modernizing and overseeing the O and M fleet vehicles and fuel systems. The position will create and plan for transition to electric vehicles to come in compliance with the University of Manitoba Sustainability mandate. This plan will include creating fleet life expectancy program, maintenance programs, fuel programs (Gas, Desal and Electrical). The position will oversee the evaluation and need of staffing levels and create an annual budget to best maintain and meet the needs of Unit. The position will oversee data management, records tracking and financial tracking of all expenditures and revenues related to fleet and fuel, Oversee staff functions related to fleet and fuel functions and ensure proper supervision, training and certifications are in place, Conduct annual audits of the fleet and fuel to ensure proper processes for accountability and monitoring are in place and Manage the budget assigned to the portfolio including approval all purchases, hiring and contracts.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
Degree in Business or Logistics required.
5 years of directly related experience with Fleet and Staff Management required.
Experience working in a Unionized Environment is required.
Experience in Fleet Management Software required.
Experience in Financial Management and Capital Asset Management required.
An acceptable equivalent of education and experience may be considered.
Experience in Policy Development required.
Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point Etc. required.
Experience in HR systems and financial systems is required.
Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy are essential.
Demonstrated ability to manage staff required.
Ability to make sound independent decisions and utilize problem-solving abilities required.
Ability to perform efficiently under pressure due to deadlines, etc. required.
Ability to effectively and efficiently handle multiple, simultaneous, and complex tasks and projects required.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate key elements of complex issues/processes in writing and verbally required.
Ability to establish relationships with Faculty and University senior academics administrators/staff being required.
Ability to demonstrate tact and flexibility when dealing with potentially conflicting views and needs of constituencies required.
