At Mid-Western Regional Council, we are seeking a motivated Human Resources Trainee to join our People & Performance team. This position offers a structured learning opportunity whilst developing practical skills essential in this field and within the context of local government operations. As a Human Resources Trainee, you will assist in in a wide range of recruitment and selection, learning and development and work health & safety related tasks and functions.

This role is perfect for individuals looking to build a career in HR/WHS - you will receive guidance and mentorship while working towards developing your career with a formal qualification.

The salary range being offered for this full-time position is $1,654.80-$2,146.80 gross per fortnight plus superannuation which equates to an annual salary of $43,024.80-$55,816 gross plus superannuation (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience).

Key Accountabilities:

Assist Human Resources and Work Health and Safety with administrative support and general enquiries, ensuring responses are timely and accurate and in line with Council’s core values.
Assist with and undertake end to end recruitment and selection processes
Assist with providing and supporting organisational learning and development program and ad hoc matters.
Assist with and understand the induction process for new employees.
Assist with employee engagement initiatives and specialised projects facilitated through the People and Performance Team
Assist with Human Resources policy and procedure development and review, maintenance of employee records and other Human Resources functions as required
Assist the Work Health and Safety team to undertake essential WHS functions internally, such as inspections, reports, workshops and other matters as necessary
Assist with the annual performance appraisal process delivered throughout Council
Act as a first point of contact for general human resources and work health safety related queries, triage incoming priorities and ensure responses are facilitated in a timely manner
Other reasonable duties as required as they relate to the core functions of this role
Actively promote and demonstrate the core values and behavioural requirements of the Workplace Environment Statement
Essential Qualifications and Skills:

Prior completion of Higher School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent.
Willingness and capacity to enroll in and successfully complete Certificate IV in Human Resources Management through Tafe NSW, by distance/online education. Must be able to undertake studies in conjunction with the position (some subjects may have on campus workshops where travel to campus may be required)
Previous experience in an office and/or administration support role
Good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in handling sensitive information
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Confident using Microsoft office suite of products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Outlook
Highly organised with a strong attention to detail and eager to learn and take initiative in a fast-paced environment
Genuine interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources and Work Health and Safety
