Some of what you will do:
Responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound delivery and receiving activities related to the delivery and installation of furniture projects, daily installs, cross-docking and line haul shipments and the management of returns, freight claims and vendor pickups. This position reports to the Manager, Furniture Operations. The Furniture Delivery Coordinator position spends most of the time onsite inside the office managing furniture deliveries, third party delivery vendors, delivery quotes and managing vendor freight claims.
Specifically, You Will:
Coordinates all tasks and activities related to scheduling, delivery, set-up, installation, repair, and adjustment of furniture system projects and provides professional customer interface and client relations throughout project. Responsible for being the single point of contact for customer for scheduling of delivery, installation and/or repair of furniture products.
Sources vendors, negotiates best pricing, and manages relationships with 3 rd party carriers, vendors, and installation groups.
Provides work direction and training to internal and 3 rd party contract systems furniture installers and freight vendors to ensure proper delivery and installation in a timely fashion.
Directs daily delivery operations, staffing, and resources to accomplish delivery schedules within the assigned delivery areas.
Coordinates final client acceptance, obtains customer approvals, and manages deficiency reporting process following system installation projects.
Develops a work plan, schedule and logistics required based on the overall project parameters and scope.
Identifies, defines, and implements specific improvement opportunities through streamlining and accountability to drive improvements in service and expense, which includes assuring processes and systems and maintaining metric tracking to ensure positive progress, manage costs, productivity, and KPI goals.
Responsible for daily route plans to optimize fleet efficiencies vs third party outsourcing.
Manages installation and delivery by working closely with Project Specialists, Sales, and the warehouse/delivery/installation teams.
Responsible for coordinating activities related to pulling, staging, and loading furniture into delivery vehicles.
Participates in work-in-process and open order backlog review meetings with management team to check progress and resolve any issues.
Accountable to identify, define, and implement improvements to Delivery and Installation processes.
Sources best price from third party carriers/install vendors and provides competitive delivery quotes to sales reps and customers.
Manages deficiency reviews, assists with merchandise return processes when required and executes follow up process.
Responsible for reviewing and actioning Receiving and Delivery Reports to check status and resolve any issues by maintaining and executing follow-up of project bookings through excell spreadsheet.
Develops and strengthens relationships with 3 rd party freighters, installation groups, and partner vendors regarding shipping schedules and any special instructions to ensure installation is completed on schedule.
Works with Furniture Support to ensure that invoicing is timely and accurate.
Provides input related to project costing of installation activities and ensures that items are costed properly to generate an accurate margin.
Holds vendors accountable to delivery lead times, POD sign off and quality deliveries and charge back as required.
Assists Operations Manager with Interplan activities and with various duties as assigned.
Provides Job Quotes for customers/salespeople.
Confirmation in CFS of completed delivery tickets.
Some of what you need:
High School Diploma required.
Minimum of three (3) years of transportation, installation, design, or project management experience preferred.
Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
Ability to read and understand construction drawings, furniture specification plans and other architectural drawings is an asset
Excellent project management skills
Strong business acumen
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Strong analytical and logistics skills an asset
Strong geographical knowledge of the service area an asset
