Commissionaires Southern Alberta is responsible for providing professional security services for Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine hat and Suffield. We have protected people and property for public and private sector clients from coast to coast for 100-years.
Job Purpose
General Accountant is responsible for general accounting activities ensuring overall financial processes are executed efficiently and effectively in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine general accounting duties within a fast-paced finance department, while adhering to established accounting standards
Verify and post details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and total accounts to ledgers and databases
Execute accurate entry, coding, reporting, filing, and database management in multiple systems
Prepare cheque runs and electronic payments for supervisor approval.
Account reconciliations and proposal of adjusting journal entries including bank statements
Review and balance internal accounts, analyze variances, and prepare appropriate reports
Prepare and analyze financial summaries and provide reports to management on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
Participate in month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of accounts, and other accounting duties in a timely manner
Processing of monthly GST/HST filling
Account reconciliations and proposal of adjusting journal entries
Participate in variance analysis, cash flow reviews, and ensuring accurate expense allocations (by supplier, customer, region, and logistics)
Oversee integrity of inventory costing and valuation
Support accounts payable and receivable as needed.
Support Accounting Supervisor with various accounting tasks as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Post-secondary education - Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting.
3-5 years of relevant accounting experience
Strong working knowledge and experience with Sage Intacct -an asset.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Attention to detail and data accuracy and ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Excellent time management skills, with the ability prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines.
Must be self-motivated, strong problem-solver and adaptable to changing priorities
