Location: Chennai, Bangalore, India (Office Based) Pharm-Olam is seeking an experienced General Ledger Accountant Level III Senior position to join our Finance team in our India office. The Senior Accountant supports the Financial Services team in preparing & recording the monthly routine journal entries for monthly closings, Balance sheet reconciliation and analysis as well as p&l fluctuation analysis. Support local statutory financial statement preparation and audits for specified countries as assigned. Requirements Job Description and Responsibilities: In accordance with monthly closing schedule, prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts. Maintain complete and accurate electronic records of all reconciliations and journal backup documentation. Closely monitor the bank/cash position and plan the disbursements accordingly. Prepare the cash forecast for disbursements and actuals and send to the global treasurer/designated person and always keep a good cash position. Prepare p&l fluctuation variance analysis vs historical trends as part of month end close. Assist with the financial system software upgrades by executing user acceptance test transactions Assist with external global and local audit requirements. Including timely support for audit selections and clear explanation to close audit requests quickly and efficiently. Preparation/filing of timely statutory returns (VAT/GST etc) or provision required data to external tax preparers. Provide information or reports as requested by other finance team members. Other projects as assigned by Financial Services Lead or direct team lead as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory Responsibilities. Qualification & Skills: Education Bachelor’s degree with major or concentration in accounting required. Advanced degree or accounting certifications a plus Experience 5-7 years of general ledger accounting experience Using G/L systems. Preferred experience in D365 or similar ERP systems including ability to data mine information independently to investigate, understand and close issues by recommending corrective actions Preparing, analyzing and maintaining BS reconciliations in a clear understandable format that explains the ending balance Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel skills Exceptional attention to detail Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Able to exercise judgment within defined standard operating procedures and practices and to determine appropriate action independently Superior problem-solving skills and making decisions with less than perfect information Flexibility in work schedule during peak periods – i.e.; monthly close, annual audits, etc… Skills/Competencies Capabilities An understanding of US GAAP with some ability to determine proper treatment of financial transactions based on US GAAP. Strong analytical skills; Provide insightful analysis of data and proactively identify and resolve issues. Candidates preferred with good verbal as well as written English skills required. Additional 2nd languages a plus. Ability to research issues and present these solutions to supervisor.
