As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Global Controller to join our team and drive our relationships with hyperscale clients to new heights.
The Global Controller will lead the company’s global accounting function. Reporting to the Group CFO, this highly visible leadership role will be responsible for financial reporting, technical accounting, audit, governance, M&A integration, and private equity reporting. The Global Controller will also ensure robust financial policies and procedures are in place, enabling accurate, timely, and compliant reporting across Salute’s expanding global operations.
Salary: $130-$160k/yr
Schedule: 8am-5pm CST Monday-Friday
Candidates must be located in the Chicago, IL area and willing to travel up to 30% of the time.
Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting & Reporting
Oversee global accounting operations including general ledger, consolidations, revenue recognition, project accounting, intercompany, payroll, and fixed assets.
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
Manage corporate overhead accounting, including tracking, analysis, and strategic allocation of corporate expenses to business units.
Maintain a high level of data integrity and consistency in financial reporting across entities and functions.
Develop and maintain robust financial policies, accounting procedures, and internal documentation in line with best practices and regulatory expectations.
Governance & Financial Oversight
Lead the monthly close process, including balance sheet reviews, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
Implement and manage a strong internal control environment, ensuring financial governance and audit readiness.
Support SOX readiness or equivalent control frameworks for private company environments.
Drive the development and enforcement of global accounting standards and operational compliance policies.
Private Equity & Strategic Finance
Serve as a key finance liaison to Salute’s private equity sponsors, supporting investor reporting, covenant compliance, and board materials.
Lead purchase price accounting (PPA) and post-acquisition integration activities for all M&A transactions.
Support the CFO and corporate development team with due diligence, deal structuring, and integration strategy.
Audit, External Reporting & Financial Relationships
Manage all aspects of the annual external audit, including coordination with audit firms and internal stakeholders.
Oversee preparation of the annual report and ensure accuracy of financial disclosures and compliance with investor expectations.
Lead all debt covenant reporting and manage communications with lenders and financial institutions.
Maintain strong banking relationships and support treasury activities including cash management, working capital, and financing initiatives.
Systems, Processes & Team Leadership
Build and lead a high-performing global accounting team, emphasizing talent development, accountability, and performance.
Identify and drive process improvements, finance transformation initiatives, and ERP system optimization (e.g., Sage).
Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, Tax, Legal, HR, and Operations to support decision-making and ensure alignment of financial strategy.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
15+ years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience, including within public practice, facilities management, multi-entity, global, or project-based businesses
Deep expertise in US GAAP, technical accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls
Experience in private equity–backed companies and managing complex investor and lender reporting requirements
Proven ability to lead M&A financial integration and execute on purchase price accounting
Demonstrated success in establishing and enforcing accounting policies, corporate cost allocation models, and governance frameworks
Public accounting experience strongly preferred, ideally with a Big 4 or large regional firm background
Excellent communication, executive presence, and leadership skills with a hands-on and collaborative mindset
Strong systems experience (e.g., Sage Intacct) and process automation tools
