Job description
Job Summary

Teachers are responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students from Kindergarten to Grade 9/12 (Elementary/Secondary Schools). They create lesson plans and a learning environment that fosters academic success and personal growth. Teachers provide constructive feedback, instruct students in subjects such as science, literature, and mathematics, and develop a well-rounded, comprehensive curriculum. They establish strong relationships with students, motivating them to develop essential skills, knowledge, and attitudes that support their educational progression. Additionally, teachers collaborate with parents and staff to create a positive and supportive learning community.

MAC Islamic School Calgary is expanding and currently hiring qualified teachers for both campuses:
• K–9 Bridgeland Campus at 64 12 St NE
• K–3 Ranchlands Campus at Al-Salam Centre, 6415 Ranchview Dr NW

Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to the responsibilities outlined in the Employment Contract, teachers are expected to:
• Foster the intellectual and personal development of each student.
• Support students in building strong learning habits, discipline, and respectful behavior.
• Implement strategies that promote students’ understanding and respect for the rights of others.
• Maintain fairness, professionalism, and impartiality in all student interactions.
• Communicate with parents about their child’s progress, offer guidance for home support, and encourage family involvement.
• Uphold and promote high standards of both written and spoken language.
• Pursue ongoing professional development to enhance teaching competence.
• Mentor new educators and contribute to the training of future teachers.
• Adhere to school policies, deadlines, and regulations while demonstrating respect toward colleagues and administration.
• Comply with MAC’s ethical code of conduct, dress code, and the school’s educational vision and mission.
• Follow school guidelines for lesson planning, assessments, report cards, and both incident and achievement reporting.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times. Teachers are fully responsible for student supervision during instructional and duty periods, and leaving students unsupervised is a violation of this contract.
• Accompany their homeroom classes on school trips unless otherwise directed by administration.
• Actively participate in and initiate extracurricular activities, subject to prior administrative approval.

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), University Degree, or Master of Education.
• Experience: 1–2 years in a similar role.
